Iron Maiden returns to Canadian shores this summer with a handful of dates. Look for the “Maiden England World Tour” to be modelled off of 1988′s “Seventh Son of a Seventh Son” tour. (An excuse to dust off some 24-year-old props?)

Pennsylvania-based horror rock band Motionless In White recently debuted the video for their new single “Immaculate Misconception” on FearNet. Directed by Twisted Sister singer Dee Snider’s son Cody Blue Snider, the clip features MIW singer Chris Motionless channeling his idol Marilyn Manson in a conceptual clip that sees him attacked by religious protestors and fighting back. Dee himself even shows up as a Roman soldier tasked with whipping Chris prior to his crucifixion.

In Part 2 of my interview with Rob Zombie, Rob discusses working with FX wizard Wayne Toth on his upcoming film The Lords of Salem and the film’s origins.

You’ll be filming Lords of Salem soon, and Wayne Toth, who worked on both Halloween films and House of 1000 Corpses, is doing your FX on that show. Can we expect some sick practical effects work?

Yeah, Wayne’s already started working. There’s a lot of effects so there’s a very long lead time so he started way ahead of everybody else. Yeah, he’s come up with some crazy shit, man, I’ll tell you that much.

The DLB recently spoke with multitasking mad man Rob Zombie about numerous subjects, including his upcoming summer tour, new drummer Ginger Fish, working with friend and comedian Tom Papa, and his next film, The Lords of Salem. Here is is updating us on the tour and Fish. Look for more Part 2 of our conversation soon.

You’re touring Europe soon and then North America with Slayer and Exodus. Is that the best way to spend the summer?

Well, I don’t know if it’s the best way, but it seems to be the only way. That’s the way every summer seems to pan out. Last summer I spent all summer touring with Korn on the Mayhem Tour so I guess it wouldn’t be a summer if I wasn’t losing some hearing.

EXCLUSIVE! RAMMSTEIN AND COMBICHRIST VIDEO

Posted in Concerts, Events, Goth, Heavy Metal, Music, Video with tags , , , , , on May 10, 2011 by darklordbunnykins

Sunday night’s Rammstein show at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre was much anticipated by the city’s — and likely the province’s given the out-of-town element — goth, industrial, rock and metal community. So much so that the entire venue was sold out. Superlatives fail to capture the scale of the production — which included, of course, tons of pyro, costume changes, props and much abuse of keyboardist Flake — so let’s show you a little of what went on. While security was strict about filming, we managed to capture a portion of the band’s performance of “Haifisch,” specifically the middle section where Flake wades out into the crowd on a raft.

Opening act Combichrist, who have added a tall, thin guitarist since their last appearance in Toronto last fall, put on a similarly spectacular show, even if they didn’t have as extensive a light show as they did during their headlining run. Here is the band performing “Follow the Trail of Blood” before security rushes in to shout “No filming!”

Former Marilyn Manson/KMFDM collaborator Tim Skold has announced further details about his upcoming solo album. Anomie will be released May 10 through Metropolis Records. From the press release: “Sometimes I wonder if I’ve been preparing my whole life for this album. I’m curious if people will actually ‘get it’,” so says SKOLD‘s influential musical mastermind Tim Skold about ANOMIE, his first album in 15 years. “It really is completely self indulgent wankery, but that goes for just about every record I’ve ever liked. I don’t want people to expect anything from me, I promise only to remain defiantly and completely untrustworthy.”

The album’s first single “SUCK” will be released as an 8-track EP on April 10 and will include remixes from 16volt, Front Line Assembly, Combichrist and Bitteren Ende and three new non-album tracks “I Will Not Forget”, “Bullets Ricochet” and “A Dark Star.”

MACABRE MUSIC: KILLING JOKE LIVE

KILLING JOKE

The Phoenix Concert Theatre

Toronto, ON

Date: December 7, 2010

When asked by interviewers about the incredible intensity of Killing Joke’s live shows, frontman Jaz Coleman often describes it as “white heat.” It evokes an incandescent, almost unbearable state of performance, and I’ve certainly felt it during previous KJ shows. Whether or not the 32-year-old band felt it during their Tuesday night Toronto performance, you’d have to ask them. The crowd didn’t seem to, at least at first.
