Toronto alt-dance trio Lioness

January 6th, 2010
For Immediate Release:

Toronto-based trio, Lioness, release their second single and video for “What You Do (Will Come Back To You)” from their self-titled EP. The video has been declared “Buzziest Video Pick” by Much Music and will start airing this week. Jeff Scheven, who also moonlights as the bands drummer, directed the video which takes the viewer on a dark and magical journey. The short film features vocalist Vanessa Fischer as the Voodoo Queen, along with her sinister biker henchman bandmates, bassist Ronnie Morris and Scheven. Twysted Monroe and Snoopy Monroe from the famed House Of Monroe offer their unique brand of voodoo vogueing as “The Dead” who are awoken from their dark slumber by Fischer’s haunting voice. Scheven had this to say about the experience filming the video: “Bringing this vision to life was a struggle, but worth it in the end. The video is a metaphor for our live experience as a band. We travel great distances to try to lure people to move.” All costumes were designed by the multi-talented Ms. Fischer.

Lioness have also been busy writing new songs since their Massey Hall date with The Cult in September. Their much anticipated full-length album is due out this Fall. It will feature infectious crowd favourite, “Temptation”. The album will be co-produced with long-time collaborator/studio genius, Rob Sanzo. Those of you in Toronto and Hamilton should come out to hear Lioness debut new songs at shows later this month. Lioness will play a special hometown show with Everything All The Time at the Horseshoe Tavern on January 30th, 10:30pm.
