The DLB recently had the pleasure of speaking to Saw: The Final  Chapter actor Cary Elwes for Rue Morgue about his appearance in the series’ final film where he reprises his role as Dr. Lawrence Gordon. Look for that interview to be published tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9 a.m. In the meantime, here are a couple of extra questions from that talk to warm you up:

Was there any indication during the filming of the original Saw or when you read it that it would be the success that it became, and what, if any, were your expectations for that film’s success?

Well, I don’t think any of us knew really. It caught us all by surprise. I thought the film worked. It was extremely well made. I was impressed with everyone’s performance. I thought if it became a cult hit that would be kind of fun. I thought it would find an audience but I didn’t know it would become the phenomenon it became, as I’m sure James and Leigh told you as well.

At what point did you realize that Saw was a phenomenon?

I literally woke up the next day after it opened and we saw the numbers, and we were totally surprised and shocked at the response

Saw: The Final Chapter is available on Blu-ray and DVD January 25th.
